OBI HOLDINGS Supports 'Wish Vacation @ Karuizawa' Inviting Children with Threatening Illnesses and Their Families to a Sports Festival

As part of the "Wish Vacation" program organized by "Hope & Wish for Children with Life-Threatening Illness and Their Families" (Location: 4A Gojo Building, 2-9-10 Irifune, Chuo-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director: Mr Riki Osumi), OBI HOLDINGS PTE LTD invited children living with serious illnesses and their families to Karuizawa for a three-day stay from May 15 to 17, 2026.

The "Wish Vacation" program is a family invitation initiative designed to provide children living with threatening illnesses and their families with opportunities to engage with society, helping to inspire hope, courage, and motivation for the future. The program is operated in a manner that places no financial burden on participating families.

Over the two-day period of May 16 and 17, seven children and their families were invited to attend the Karuizawa Sports Festival 2026, organized by the Karuizawa Children Future Fund of NPO SC Karuizawa Club and Sports For Kids Foundation. OBI HOLDINGS PTE LTD participated in the event as a special sponsor.

During the festival, participants took part in a variety of hands-on sports programs, including baseball, soccer, tennis, and golf. The event provided a valuable opportunity for the children and their families to experience and enjoy the unique appeal of different sports.

In addition to the sports programs, participants also enjoyed strawberry picking and woodcraft workshops unique to the Karuizawa area. These activities provided a wide range of enriching experiences beyond sports, fostering interaction with the local community and creating memorable opportunities for the children and their families.

The families who participated in the program shared a number of heartfelt comments about their experience.

One parent commented, "there are very few opportunities for children with disabilities to participate in sports in an environment where they feel safe and comfortable. We were truly grateful for this opportunity, and our child thoroughly enjoyed the experience."

Another participant shared, "the professional athletes spoke to us naturally and warmly, without treating us differently. Their kindness made us feel welcomed, supported, and encouraged."

These reflections reaffirmed for us at OBI the importance of building an inclusive society through sports, as well as the value of creating opportunities for meaningful interaction and connection.

Going forward, OBI HOLDINGS PTE LTD will continue to support initiatives that contribute to addressing social challenges, not only through financial assistance for the next generation of children, but also through event planning, community engagement, and opportunities for meaningful human connection.
